Governor Lamont has issued an amended Executive Order regarding the tractor trailer travel ban. The ban on tandems and empty trailers has been extended to apply to all limited access highways. The list of exemptions to the ban has been slightly expanded, specifically, to include food, medical supplies, and fuel. A copy of the amended Executive Order can be seen here, and the text is also below.

An emergency situation exists because of the extreme nature of the snowstorm currently affecting the State of Connecticut, requiring an expansion of the travel restrictions contained in my order of January 31, 2021, with additional exceptions for delivery of critical supplies. Therefore, pursuant to Sections 3-1 and 3-6a of the Connecticut General Statutes, I hereby order that, until further notice, all empty and tandem tractor trailers are prohibited from travel on all limited access highways, and all tractor trailers are prohibited from travel on Interstate 84.

The restrictions contained herein shall not apply to vehicles carrying to or through Connecticut emergency supplies necessary for responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, including but not limited to vaccines, testing supplies, or medications, or those supporting operations that provide critical services or supplies to the public, such as fuel, medical supplies, and food.

This post was updated to reflect the amended order.
