State Representative Pat Boyd (D – Brooklyn) is the Motor Transport Association of Connecticut (MTAC) State Representative of the Year, MTAC announced today. The State Representative of the Year award is an annual award presented to a member of the State House of Representatives who supports public policy which allows the trucking industry to remain competitive in Connecticut.

“Representative Boyd has a clear record of working to support small businesses in Connecticut, including trucking companies,” said MTAC President Joe Sculley. “He also works in a bipartisan manner, much to the benefit of businesses and residents in Connecticut.”

Sculley added that Representative Boyd is always open to receiving new information about any subject. “Representative Boyd considers all the facts and then makes an informed decision. We need more people like that in the legislature,” Sculley stated.

Sculley highlighted the importance of the trucking industry to the Connecticut economy. “More than 85 percent of Connecticut communities depend exclusively on trucks to move their goods. Trucks transport 94 percent of total manufactured tonnage in the state. There are more than 60,000 jobs in the trucking industry in Connecticut,” he stated. “The trucking industry plays a crucial role in the Connecticut economy.”

“We thank Representative Boyd for serving in a manner that benefits small businesses like Connecticut-based trucking companies,” Sculley concluded.
