MTAC to honor John Hampton as State Rep of the Year

State Representative John Hampton (D–Simsbury) will be the recipient of the Motor Transport Association of Connecticut (MTAC) State Representative of the Year award, MTAC announced today. The State Representative of the Year award is an annual award presented to a member of the State House of Representatives who supports public policy which allows the trucking industry to remain competitive in Connecticut.

“MTAC is pleased to recognize Representative Hampton with this award,” said MTAC President Joe Sculley. “He has clearly demonstrated a willingness to work with the business community in Connecticut. We appreciate that he wants to hear what the trucking industry and the broader business community has to say.”

The award from MTAC award will be presented to Representative Hampton at MTAC’s Annual Meeting on October 26, 2017. The all-day MTAC Annual Meeting will feature an awards ceremony in the early afternoon, and Representative Hampton will be recognized in front of the MTAC membership then.

MTAC President Joe Sculley highlighted the importance of the trucking industry in Connecticut when discussing this award. “More than 85 percent of Connecticut communities depend exclusively on trucks to move their goods. There are more than 60,000 jobs in the trucking industry in Connecticut,” he stated. “The trucking industry plays a crucial role in the Connecticut economy. We thank Representative Hampton for recognizing this and listening to our message.”
