Road construction ahead

From Connecticut Department of Transportation:

Beginning Tuesday night, Aug. 22, the I-84 eastbound exit 25 off-ramp and Reidville Drive [near Waterbury] will shift to their new alignment; the existing eastbound exit 25 off-ramp and western portion of Reidville Drive will close permanently.

The entrance to the new I-84 eastbound exit 25 off-ramp will begin soon after eastbound I-84 crosses the Mad River’s western crossing, west of the ramp’s existing location, and continue over the new bridge, to the new intersection at Harpers Ferry Road. The intersection of Harpers Ferry Road, Reidville Drive, and eastbound exit 25 off-ramp will shift to the south, with signalization remaining the same:

  • Those exiting from I-84 eastbound exit 25 off-ramp may go north or south on Harpers Ferry Road, or continue straight (east) on Reidville Drive.
  • Westbound Reidville Drive traffic will turn north or south on Harpers Ferry Road.
  • Harpers Ferry Road temporary bypass will remain open, and traffic may continue north and south on Harpers Ferry Road, or turn east on Reidville Drive.

This new traffic configuration will facilitate travel in the vicinity, and allow for continued construction of the I-84 future alignment.

If inclement weather causes postponement, the shift will take place the following night, on Wednesday, Aug. 23.
